About

Many people have asked me why I enjoy taking photos of creepy dolls.  The answer is, I’m not really sure.  I’ve loved scary things for as long as I can remember.  Maybe it began when my Father introduced me to E.C. Comics (i.e. Tales from the Crypt, Vault of Horror) when I was in Elementary School.  My love of reading evolved into a deep appreciation of fairy tales and horror stories.  I wore out my copy of “The Complete Grimm’s Fairy Tales”.  After reading “Pet Sematary” by Stephen King I became a fan for life of the macabre. I can remember hiding on the stairs to watch the ending of Friday the 13th at a young age.

There is something about dolls that strikes a chord with me. The whole concept feels creepy. They are intended to be replicas of babies and children, but in their doll form, they become a warped version of reality. With their unrealistic eye colors, exaggerated facial features and insane amounts of hair, they resemble no person I’ve ever seen.

Who looks like that?! Dolls stare straight ahead, their blank eyes watching, just waiting for you to turn your back on them.  I enjoy taking these seemingly normal playthings and placing them in unusual surroundings.  My hope is to change the way you look at them forever.
